Agartala, 6th December 2024: In a major bust on Thursday evening, the Tripura Police arrested five individuals involved in drug trafficking in the Bishramganja Bazar area. Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a swift operation, leading to the seizure of a significant haul of narcotics and other items.
The arrested individuals were found in possession of 400 Yaba tablets, 125 grams of sugar containers (likely used as a cover for drugs), 17 mobile phones, and Rs 25,000 in cash. The police have registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against the accused, who have been identified as Datta, Jamal Hossain, Ram Datta, Jayanta Ghosh, and Rahul Saha.
The suspects, all residents of the Bishramganja Police Station area, were brought before the court on Thursday afternoon, and the police have filed a case under case number 21/2024, U/S- 22 (C)/25/27 A/29 of the NDPS Act.
Bishramganja Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Subimal Debnath confirmed the details of the arrest and assured that the investigation would continue to dismantle the drug network operating in the region.
