Agartala, 14th November 2025:   The Unakoti District Health and Family Welfare Department today organized a Media Sensitization Workshop at the District Council Conference Hall. Journalists from both print and electronic media attended the program, which focused on the implementation of government health schemes, addressing challenges, and strategies to extend healthcare services to a wider population.

The workshop was attended by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Shirshendu Chakma, District Nodal Officer Dr. Ayan Roy, District Immunization Officer Dr. Sandipan Bhattacharjee, Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Subhash Barua, DHO Dr. Sanjay Rudrapal, and Ayushman Nodal Officer Dr. Alokesh Nandi, among others.

Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Subhash Barua informed that Unakoti currently has 206 TB patients, but the number is steadily declining due to regular treatment and monitoring. He emphasized that the participation of public representatives, officials, doctors, health workers, and aware citizens as Nikshay Mitras is playing a crucial role in ensuring faster recovery of patients.

District Health Officer Dr. Sanjay Rudrapal discussed diabetes, hypertension, and lifestyle-related diseases. He advised monthly blood sugar and blood pressure checks, and HbA1C testing every three months for diabetic patients. On dengue, he clarified that it is not an epidemic but a mosquito-borne disease, stressing that awareness remains the only prevention as no specific medication exists.

District Immunization Officer Dr. Sandipan Bhattacharjee highlighted that Unakoti ranks highest in vaccination coverage in Tripura. Special initiatives are underway to ensure immunization of children across urban, rural, and hilly areas. He urged parents to discard misconceptions and actively participate in vaccination programs.

District Nodal Officer Dr. Ayan Roy shed light on the role of ASHA workers in rural healthcare delivery and their coordination with the health department.

Ayushman Nodal Officer Dr. Alokesh Nandi encouraged citizens to enroll under the Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, noting that Ayushman cardholders receive cashless treatment at government hospitals. He described the schemes as landmark initiatives of the Government of India and the Government of Tripura.

At the conclusion of the workshop, participating journalists were presented with certificates of appreciation by the District Health and Family Welfare Department.
