Agartala, 4th January 2026: A discussion meeting was organized in Kamlapur today by the Indian Mazdoor Sangh, Dhalai district, focusing on the demands of Mid-Day Meal workers, including salary and allowance increases. The meeting was held at Nazrul Bhavan Hall and brought together workers and union leaders to raise their concerns.
Key demands highlighted during the meeting included a hike in salaries and allowances for Mid-Day Meal workers, annual financial support during Durga Puja, and several other important issues. Present at the meeting were Sushmita Basak Dutta, President of the State Mid-Day Meal Sangh, Ruma Saha, State In-Charge of the Sangh, Biplab Debbarma, District President of Dhalai Employees’ Union, along with other block-level leaders of the organization. Speaking at the event, the leaders emphasized that Mid-Day Meal workers have long been deprived of fair wages and social benefits. They warned that if their demands are not addressed promptly, they may be forced to launch larger-scale movements in the future. The organization also announced that they plan to meet with the state Chief Minister soon to present their demands and seek permanent solutions to the workers’ issues.
