Minister Sudhangshu Das highlights importance of veterinary paramedic training

Date:

Agartala, 1st June 2026:   Animal Resources Development (ARD) Minister Sudhangshu Das emphasized the significance of recent training programmes conducted for paramedics and supporting staff in the veterinary sector.

Speaking on the initiative, the Minister said, “Those who have completed minor veterinary training services recently have been provided with technical training on various aspects within a year. The focus has been on safeguarding domestic animals and livestock, administering vaccinations, and handling primary health issues.”

He explained that the primary objective of these sessions is to strengthen the technical support system for veterinary doctors. “Veterinary doctors require assistance from paramedics, supporting staff, and assistants. To ensure they can contribute effectively, technical training is essential,” Das noted.

Looking ahead, the Minister stated, “In the future, when we recruit them under the ARD department, they will be given priority. This will help us overcome existing challenges. The manpower required is not available everywhere, and these trained personnel can play a crucial role in filling that gap.”

The initiative is expected to enhance veterinary services across the state, ensuring better healthcare and protection for livestock while addressing manpower shortages in the sector.

Meanwhile, Minister Sudhangshu Das on Monday inaugurated the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccination programme at Dighalia Gram Panchayat under Bamutia R.D. Block.

Secretary Deepa D Nair, Director Neeraj Kumar Chanchal and others were present.
