Minister Sushanta Chowdhury condemns attack on BJP candidate’s residence

Date:

Agartala, 18th April 2026:   Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Saturday strongly condemned the late-night attack on the residence of Abhijit Debbarma, the BJP-nominated candidate for the No. 15 Jirania constituency in the recently concluded ADC elections.

“Late last night, a group of miscreants launched an attack on the residence of Abhijit Debbarma with the intent of disrupting peace and harmony in the area,” Chowdhury stated.

The minister visited Debbarma’s residence this afternoon, accompanied by the District President and other party leaders, to meet with his family members. He assured them that the administration would act decisively to safeguard the locality.

“With the cooperation of the administration, peace and harmony will be consistently maintained in this locality,” Chowdhury affirmed.

The incident has heightened concerns about post-election violence in Tripura, with leaders calling for accountability and swift action against those responsible.
