Agartala, 21st September 2026 : A decomposed body of a youth, who had been missing for nearly 13 days, was recovered hanging from an area near a brick kiln at Bamutia market under Lefunga police station on Monday morning, triggering tension in the locality.
The deceased was identified as Chandan Sarkar, a resident of North Taltala under Sidai police station. According to his family members, Chandan had been missing for around 13 days, following which a missing diary was lodged at Sidai police station.
On Monday morning, local residents noticed a foul smell emanating from the vicinity of a brick kiln near Bamutia market. Upon checking the area, they found Chandan’s decomposed body hanging from a spot near the kiln.
Police were informed and rushed to the location before recovering the body. Later, family members identified the deceased.
Although local sources claimed that Chandan may have taken the extreme step following a family dispute, police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to his death.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s family has alleged that despite lodging a missing diary, adequate steps were not taken to trace Chandan. The recovery of his body after nearly two weeks has cast a pall of grief over the area.
