Agartala, September 30. In the state cabinet meeting held yesterday, it has been decided to provide social allowance of Rs 2,000 per month to another 30,000 people under the Chief Minister’s Social Assistance Scheme in the state, said Cabinet spokesperson and ICA minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Friday.
Speaking to media persons at Civil Secretariat here on Friday evening, Chowdhury said that the state government will incur an additional cost of Rs 6 crore per month to provide social allowance to 30,000 new people. Currently 3 lakh 18 thousand 415 people are receiving monthly social allowance of Rs 2000 under the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education.
“The decision to appoint 6 thousand 67 special executives under the Ministry of Home Affairs was taken at the meeting of the state cabinet yesterday. This recruitment will be done through Superintendents of Police at the district level on contract basis. Unemployed youth aged 21-45 who have passed 8th standard can apply through the concerned police station. This recruitment process will start in next one month. Basically, these special executives will work on assisting the police, providing information, providing information against drug addiction, etc.”, he added
Minister said “It was decided to increase the salary of the same number of Anganwadi workers and helpers working in 9,931 Anganwadi centers in the state by 15 percent. It has also been decided to increase the number of Asha workers working under the Department of Health at the rate of 15 percent.”
“In the cabinet meeting, it was decided that 17 people will be appointed as professors on contract basis in the Veterinary College under the Department of Animal Resources Development. The decision to create 374 new posts in various categories of Rural Development Department has been taken in the Cabinet meeting”, he also added.
