Agartala, 5th April 2026: A family in the capital city is facing a heartbreaking crisis as their two-year-old son battles a life-threatening illness. Just six months ago, they lost their elder child to a similar condition after being unable to afford treatment. Now, their younger son, Ratnadeep Das, is showing alarming symptoms, with his head and liver enlarging and his health deteriorating rapidly.
The child’s mother, devastated and desperate, has appealed to the public and the Chief Minister for help. She explained that despite repeated medical advice to seek advanced treatment outside Tripura, the family cannot afford the estimated several lakh rupees required. Their ration card does not qualify under the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category, limiting access to government support.
The family, residents of Sadhu Tilla Ambedkar Palli in Jogendra Nagar, has already approached their local legislator seeking inclusion under BPL benefits. Meanwhile, GB Hospital has referred the child for treatment outside the state. With no financial means to proceed, the parents turned to the media on Sunday, pleading for assistance to save their only surviving child.
