New ITI programme to begin at Pecharthal

Agartala, 17th August 2026 :   A new Industrial Training Institute (ITI) programme offering two SCVT-approved trades will commence on a temporary basis at Pecharthal this year, aimed at enhancing skill development among unemployed youth and creating new employment opportunities.

Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma said the initiative has been taken with the noble objective of promoting self-reliance and independence among young people through skill development.

To ensure the smooth and successful implementation of the programme, Chakma today attended a final preparatory meeting at the Kumarghat SDM office. The meeting was attended by the Kumarghat SDM, BAC Chairman, BDO and officials from the concerned departments.

The Minister said the initiative would provide local youth with opportunities to acquire practical skills and improve their prospects for employment and self-employment.
