New SDM quarters, deed writers’ office inaugurated at Jirania by Sushanta Chowdhury

Date:

Agartala, 25th August 2026 : Tripura Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Tuesday said the completion of new residential quarters for the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and officials, along with new office premises for deed writers, would strengthen administrative efficiency and help accelerate the delivery of government services in Jirania.

Speaking at the inauguration programme, Chowdhury described the occasion as a “significant achievement” for the Jirania sub-division. He said the infrastructure development of the SDM office, which was established much later than the formation of the sub-division, had now been completed.

The minister emphasized the strategic importance of Jirania, located close to Agartala, and said the SDM and other officials need to remain stationed in the area to respond quickly to natural disasters, law-and-order situations and other emergencies.

“Previously, officials and the SDM often faced obstacles in commuting from Agartala or other areas to perform their duties here,” Chowdhury said. He added that the new residential facilities would allow the SDM to stay in the sub-division with family and devote more time to local administrative work.

According to the minister, the availability of proper accommodation for officials would give greater momentum to the functioning of the sub-divisional administration and support the government’s objective of taking good governance to every household and citizen.

Chowdhury also inaugurated new office premises for deed writers, describing the facility as the fulfilment of a long-standing demand. He recalled that deed writers previously had to work from roadside spaces or near staircases, causing considerable inconvenience while preparing and processing documents.

He said the new facility was constructed through the combined efforts of the sub-divisional administration, the Nagar Panchayat and the MLA Area Development Fund. The improved working environment, he added, would make their services more efficient and help local residents complete documentation-related work more quickly.

The minister assured the deed writers that their future requirements would also be considered and addressed. He expressed his gratitude to SDM Animesh Dhar and congratulated him, along with other officials and state government employees, on the inauguration of the new quarters complex and office facilities.
