Agartala: June 26. Following the request of Tripura government, the Northeast Frontier Railway has decided to start special train between Agartala-Dharmanagar and Agartala to Sabroom from June 26 to July 3 in view of Kharchi Puja and Festival.
Kharchi Puja is one of the most important festivals in Tripura. The puja and fair was held for seven days at the temple of the fourteenth deity in Old Agartala. A huge crowd is observed around the Kharchi festival every year. People from different parts of Tripura come to participate in this meeting festival.
So the Tripura government requested the NFR for additional trains to handle the rush of passengers and to allow people from all sections to participate in the Kharchi festival.
Two trains will run on Agartala-Dharmannagar and Agartala-Sabroom routes from June 26 to July 3. The train will leave Agartala at 5 am and reach Dharmanagar at 9:30 AM. On the return journey, the train will leave Dharmanagar at 10.35 am and reach Agartala at 2 pm.
On the other hand, the train from Agartala to Sabroom will leave at 2:15 PM and the train will reach Sabroom at 4:35 PM. On the return journey, the train will leave Sabroom at 5 PM and reach Agartala at 7:35 PM. The special passenger train has a total of seven coaches including one SLR.
