Agartala, 4th August 2025:  Amtali Police have arrested a notorious bike thief Nibas Debbarma of Madhupur Noabari and recovered a stolen Pulsar motorcycle bearing registration number TR01AL-9235 within 24 hours of the theft. The bike belonged to Mithun Debnath, who had parked it near his in-laws’ residence in Madhupur Godown Chowmuhani yesterday. Upon finding the theft, Debnath filed a formal complaint at Madhupur Police Station.

Investigations revealed that Debbarma and accomplice Biplab Shil of Rastarmatha area had attempted to smuggle the bike into Bangladesh via Kamalasagar. Fearing BSF detection, the duo reportedly diverted to Fultali Bazar to consume alcohol. Locals, suspicious of their behavior, intercepted them. While Shil escaped, Debbarma was booked, tied up and handed over to police along with the stolen bike.

Amtali Police later identified other suspects in the network including Samaradeep Bardhan alias Sagar of Madhupur Noabari. OC Paritosh Das confirmed that Debbarma had a prior theft case registered and was presented in court today with a request for police remand.

The swift recovery of the bike left owner Mithun Debnath and his in-laws pleasantly surprised.
