One died, 56 takes shelter due to floods, and landslides in state

Agartala: July 02. Due to heavy rainfall in July at least 9 houses were damaged, while 56 persons have taken shelter and one 10 years old children died in Tripura.

A report from State Emergency Operation Centre said that due to heavy rainfall occurred on July 01 one house severely and 8 houses was partly damaged Jirania Sub-division under West District while the District Administration has opened one shelter house today at Pratapgarh English Medium School in Agartala at 08.00 AM where 20 families having 56 persons have taken shelter there after flood water had entered in their houses.

The administration has provided food, water and other relief materials are being provided to the inmates.

The report further said that due to landslide today occurred because of rain in Shilghati area under Gomati district two persons got stuck beneath the soil.

“Among them one person identified as Sajeda Aktar (10) died and another 5 year children identified as Alisha Begam injured. Both the victims were recovered by local people. Now the injured children is under treatment at Gomati District Hospital”, the report said.

The report further said that thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at isolated places over all districts of Tripura tomorrow.
