Agartala, 16th March 2024: In a significant political shift in the Lankamura area of 4-Barajala assembly constituency, over two hundred voters have renounced their allegiance to the Congress and CPIM, choosing instead to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The joining took place on Saturday, with Minister Tinku Roy personally welcoming the new members by presenting them with the party’s flag.
Minister Roy announced that the new BJP supporters, hailing from 64 families, are part of a larger trend across the state, where individuals are increasingly drawn to the BJP due to the developmental strides made under its governance. The majority of the new adherents were previously affiliated with the CPIM, supplemented by a contingent from the Congress. Minister Roy voiced his conviction that this influx of support for the BJP is set to persist in the foreseeable future.
Coinciding with the announcement of the 18th Lok Sabha election 2024 on Saturday afternoon, the BJP also celebrated the inauguration of the new Praharmura Shakti Kendra within the Khowai Mandal. The event was marked by the defection of 352 voters from 110 families, predominantly from the opposition party CPM, to the BJP. Distinguished attendees at the inauguration included Khowai Mandal President Subrata Majumdar, Panchayat Samiti Vice Chairman Tapas Kanti Das, Mahila Morcha State President Aparna Singh Roy, Area Head Sudarshan Sarkar, Mandal Member Surjit Barua, and Janjati Morcha State Committee Member Ramen Santal, among others. The leaders extended a warm welcome to the new BJP members, symbolically ushering them into the fold under the BJP flag.
This event underscores a broader political realignment within the state, reflecting the dynamic nature of party affiliations and the impact of governmental policies on voter sentiment.
