Agartala, 16th March 2024: In the wake of the Lok Sabha election announcement, Congress activists, led by party member and MLA Sudip Roy Barman, rallied in support of Asish Kumar Saha, their candidate for the West Tripura seat. The campaign kicked off with a procession that navigated through various city routes, starting from the state Congress headquarters in Agartala.
During the campaign, Roy Barman expressed high confidence in the Congress’s prospects, highlighting the party’s decision to field candidates from the India Alliance for both the East and West Tripura constituencies.
Addressing comments from an opposing candidate, Roy Barman criticized those who resort to an autocratic mindset, relying on financial and physical power to influence politics. He emphasized the Congress’s faith in the electorate’s judgment, condemning the alleged misuse of government agencies like the ED, CBI, and Income Tax department to extract funds from corporate entities. In a pointed attack, Roy Barman accused the BJP of engaging in theft and robbery, signaling a heated political climate as the elections approach.
