Agartala, November 19, 2022: Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee on Saturday launched a foot march under the banner of “Bharat Jodo Yatra – Tripura Bachao” in 14 selected locations across the state.
Congress’ central working committee member and Tripura in-charge Dr Ajay Kumar on Saturday launched the march from in front of the Congress Bhavan here followed by several areas in the state.
Speaking on the issue, Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman said “This foot march is a fight for the basic needs of the common masses. Our demands are raising voice against inflation, religious polarization and demand jobs for the unemployed youths.”
Claiming that the yatra is not of the Congress party, Roy Barman said that these burning issues are faced by the common people of the state. Former Congress MLA Asish Kumar Saha said “In next seven days, this yatra will be covering a total of 1,200 kilometres of path.”Congress party sources said that this foot march will also boost up the party’s organization as party workers will come in touch with people in different parts of the state.Meanwhile, scuffle also broke out between the supporters of Congress and BJP parties at Belonia. However, the situation was brought under control before any untoward incident take place.
