Agartala, 22nd April 2025: In a bid to raise public awareness on constitutional values and strengthen its organisational base, the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Tuesday announced the launch of two major campaigns—‘Save Constitution Abhiyan’ and ‘Ghar Ghar Abhiyan’.
Addressing the media after chairing a key meeting with representatives from all wings of the state unit, TPCC president Asish Kumar Saha said the ‘Save Constitution Abhiyan’ would be implemented across all levels—from block to district.
“We convened a joint meeting of all wings of the Pradesh Congress to chalk out our strategy for upcoming programmes. The Save Constitution Abhiyan will be rolled out across the state to make people aware of the values enshrined in the Constitution,” Saha said.
Flanked by senior party leader and Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, Saha further said the campaign aligns with directives issued during the All India Congress Committee’s national convention held recently in Gujarat.
“We have undertaken a 1.15-month-long action plan as mandated by the AICC. Following that, we will move into the Ghar Ghar Abhiyan phase, which aims to establish stronger grassroots connections,” he added.
As part of the Save Constitution campaign, the Congress is also raising a nationwide demand for a caste-based census—one of the key issues the party is actively agitating for, said Saha.He also took aim at the recently enacted Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, alleging it compromises the rights of the Muslim community.“We strongly oppose the Waqf Amendment Act and will continue to fight against it to safeguard the legal and constitutional rights of the Muslim population,” Saha asserted.
