Agartala, 13th November 2024:   Tripura BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharya today condemned the CPI(M) and Congress, accusing them of conspiring to hinder the BJP’s rise to power. Bhattacharya asserted that public support overcame these alleged attempts, allowing the BJP to establish its government.

He made these remarks while commemorating the death anniversary of Shyamhari Sharma, a BJP leader who was the party’s first karyakarta killed in Agartala in 1991. “On November 13, 1991, during a by-election in the 6-Agartala Assembly Constituency, Shyamhari Sharma was brutally attacked by miscreants near Lal Bahadur Chowmuhani, leading to his tragic death. Alongside him, two others sustained injuries. This incident was a result of political victimization by the CPI(M) and Congress. Yet, due to the relentless efforts of our BJP workers, we’ve managed to establish the government twice in Tripura,” Bhattacharya remarked.

He also emphasized that the BJP-led government is focused on law and order as a top priority. “The present administration is dedicated to ensuring public safety through strong law enforcement. The opposition believed that Shyamhari Sharma’s death would prevent us from forming the government, but the people answered otherwise. They rejected violence in favor of peace and progress. Our state and central governments are working tirelessly for the welfare of all sections of society,” he added.
