Agartala, August 16, 2022: The unemployed youths under the banner of ‘Physical Education Unemployed Youth of Tripura’ agitated at City Centre premises on two-point charter of demands here on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters here, “We gathered together here at City Centre premises, followed by a rally and meet with Director of School Education department with our two-point charter demands. Firstly, physical education is compulsory as per the guidelines of NCERT. In other states, physical education subject is functioning but in Tripura, it is not. Physical Education subject is mentioned in the students’ marksheets or report cards, but marks are being given whereas no subject teacher is there in the respective schools. The teacher for Physical Instructor and Physical Education is not the same.”
“Secondly, government launched ‘Vidyajyoti Mission’ in 100 schools, where the schools are affiliated under CBSE and Physical Education subject is mandatory. Even in the CBSE affiliation by laws 2.4.10 mentioned that every school should appoint physical education teacher designated as PRT and PGT PE. But till now, not a single PE teacher has been recruited in the Vidyajyoti schools”, he added.
