Agartala, 22nd September 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated development projects at the Mata Tripurasundari Temple Complex in Udaipur, Gomati District, marking a significant step in promoting pilgrimage and tourism in Tripura.
At 3 pm, PM Modi performed a formal puja to inaugurate the Tripura Sundari Temple Development Project, situated at one of the 51 revered Shakti Peeths. The Central Government has sanctioned Rs. 34.43 crore under the PRASAD Scheme for the temple’s development, with the State Government contributing an additional Rs. 17.61 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said, “I reviewed the works at the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple Complex. Our focus is on ensuring that more pilgrims and tourists visit the temple while discovering the beauty of Tripura. On the first day of Navratri, and with the divine Durga Puja season underway, I had the opportunity to pray at the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur, Tripura. I prayed for the well-being and prosperity of my fellow Indians.”
The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, MPs Biplab Kumar Deb and Rajib Bhattacharya, and several members of the state cabinet. The temple’s chief priest, Chandan Chakraborty, conducted the puja, chanting sacred mantras.

During the ceremony, the Prime Minister offered Mata Tripureshwari a garland of 108 lotuses, a silk saree, traditional Udaipur pithas (sweets), and assorted fruits. He also performed a circumambulation of the temple and offered prayers at the Shiva temple located within the complex.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi arrived at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala via a special aircraft, where he was warmly received by Agartala Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumdar, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, and Director General of Police Anurag, among others.
From Agartala, he traveled by helicopter to the Palatana helipad, where he was welcomed by Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, and other dignitaries. Along the route to the temple, cultural programs were organized, and thousands of residents lined the streets to greet the Prime Minister enthusiastically.
