Poet Sukanta fought against social discrimination through his writing: Ratan Nath

Agartala: August 14. Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath today said that the poetry of poet Sukanta Bhattacharya always inspire the youth and fought against social discrimination, exploitation through his writings

“Poet Sukanta is a bright name in the Bengali literature. His poetry inspires the youth”, said Minister Nath while inaugurating the state-level Sukanta Janma Jayanti program organized by the School Education Department at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan this afternoon. On the eve of the 76th Independence Day, the Education Minister paid tribute to poet Sukanta and said that poet Sukanta fought against social discrimination and exploitation through his writings. Poet Sukanta talks about making the world habitable for children.

Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumdar and Director of Higher Education Department NC Sharma were present on the occasion. Mr. Arif Mohammad, Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Agartala and former Vice Chancellor of Tripura Central University Arunodaya Saha spoke at the event. Chandni Chandran, Director of Secondary Education, gave the welcome speech.Students of different schools performed dance, music and songs on the occasion. Moreover, renowned artists from Bangladesh Badrunnessa Dalia and AKM Shahid Kabir performed music. Tanmoy Nath, student of Bir Bikram Institute of Dharmanagar, won the second place in classical dance at the event, Shreya Modak, a student of Udaipur English Medium Higher Secondary School, won the second place in classical music, Tanisha Debbarma, a student of Donbosco School, Agartala, won the second place in classical music and Marisha Debbarma won the third place.
