Agartala, 18th August 2025: Acting on a confidential tip-off, Jatrapur Police Station staff launched a pre-dawn operation today in the forested area of Ledra Bari Para located in Kalikhola ADC Village. The raid began around 6 am led to the destruction of multiple illegal cannabis nurseries.
Officer-in-Charge Smriti Kanta Bardhan confirmed reporters that between 10 to 12 nurseries were dismantled without resistance. “We estimate over 3,00,000 cannabis saplings were destroyed,” Bardhan said, adding that the operation was carried out swiftly and successfully.
The team included Sub-Inspectors Amar Kishore Debbarma, Pritam Datta and Ajay Barun Saha along with several police constables and SPO personnel. The officers arrived in three vehicles and completed the raid by 9 am.
Bardhan emphasized that such operations will continue whenever credible information is received. “We are acting under directives from senior officials in the Narcotics Department, and we will not hesitate to destroy illegal plantations immediately,” he stated.
