Agartala, November 25: In a startling incident of escalated enmity, unidentified miscreants opened fire at the residence of Shaktipada Pal in Barjala, the capital’s vicinity, on Friday evening around 5 o’clock. Quick to respond, local law enforcement swiftly arrived at the scene, recovering a pistol and the fired bullet.

According to the victim, Shaktipada Pal, the alleged assailants, identified as Rakesh Roy and Pintu Debnath from the Manipuri Para, arrived on a scooter in the evening and fired shots in his living room before fleeing the scene. Subsequently, the police launched an operation resulting in the arrest of Pintu Debnath after raiding his residence. Simultaneously, a raid at Rakesh Roy’s house yielded two bullets of a 7.65 mm pistol but failed to apprehend him.

The NCC police are now conducting a thorough investigation into the incident under the Arms Act. Notably, Pintu Debnath claimed involvement in a recent gaming controversy, possibly linking it to the ongoing hostilities.

This incident comes two days after Shaktipada Pal reported a bomb thrown at his residence, prompting a complaint filed with the NCC police station. In the days leading up to the shooting, there was anticipation in the Barjala market that the police would make arrests in connection with the earlier bomb incident.

Shaktipada Pal, denying any personal enmity or political affiliations, expressed concern over the motives behind these events. Despite the repeated attacks, there have been no reported casualties in either incident. The local community is left in suspense as the investigation continues to unfold.
