Police return stolen gold ornaments to owners at Pratapgarh

Agartala, 7th January 2025:   The East Agartala Police Station has returned stolen gold ornaments to their rightful owners in Pratapgarh Basakpara, following a court order. OC Rana Chatterjee confirmed that the market value of the recovered gold is estimated to be over Rs 5 lakh.

The theft took place in October, 2024 when a group of thieves targeted the homes of Bhola Banik and Rakesh Saha in the Basakpara area. The thieves made off with various gold ornaments. Following the incident, the homeowners filed a case with the police, prompting an investigation.

During the investigation, three suspects were arrested and handed over to the court, where they are currently in jail. The police successfully recovered the stolen ornaments and, today, returned them to the rightful owners based on the court’s directive.
