Police solve MG Bazar murder mystery, one held

Agartala, 31st March 2026:   East Agartala police have unraveled the mystery behind a brutal murder at Maharajganj Market, arresting one accused in connection with the crime. During interrogation, the suspect admitted to killing the victim by striking his head with a spade while under the influence of intoxicants.

Police sources informed that the incident took place on the night of March 23 in Lalmatia area, where a heated altercation broke out between Krishna Bhattacharjee and Mithun Saha. In the course of the quarrel, Saha allegedly attacked Bhattacharjee with a spade, leading to his immediate death.

East Agartala Police Station OC Subrata Debnath stated that Saha was initially detained on suspicion after investigators noticed injury marks around his eyes. He was taken into four-day police custody for questioning. Though he initially denied involvement, Saha later confessed to the crime.

Police confirmed that the accused has been produced before court today following the completion of his remand. The investigation into the case is still underway.
