Agartala, 2nd June 2025: In a shocking incident that has sent waves of panic through the local community, a gang of thieves brazenly stole the car belonging to the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bishalgarh Women’s Police Station, Shiuli Das, on Monday evening.

The daring theft occurred on the busy Bishalgarh-Agartala road, right in public view.

According to eyewitnesses, two youths arrived on a scooty, forcibly stopped the police vehicle, and brutally assaulted the driver before forcing him out. The thieves then made off with the car, leaving bystanders stunned and concerned over the apparent lawlessness.

The news of the incident quickly spread, prompting an immediate response from the police. A large contingent, including the Additional District Superintendent of Police (ADSP) of Sepahijala district, rushed to the scene to launch an intensive search operation.

This alarming event has raised serious questions about public safety and law enforcement effectiveness. “If a gang of thieves can steal a police vehicle in broad daylight, how safe are the market traders and common citizens?” asked one local shopkeeper, reflecting the widespread anxiety gripping the area.

Authorities have assured the public that all possible measures are being taken to recover the stolen vehicle and apprehend the culprits. Meanwhile, residents and traders remain on edge, urging stronger security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
