Agartala, 31st August 2026 : The Tripura Assembly on Monday witnessed disclosure of figures related to post-election political violence, with the State Home Department stating that 45 complaints were registered across police stations following the 2026 TTAADC elections.
The details emerged in a written response to a question raised by Tipra Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma.
The Home Department informed the House that 17 persons accused in connection with the reported incidents had been arrested and produced before the court.
Seeking further clarification on the impact of post-election violence, Debbarma also asked whether political leaders or workers had been forced to leave their homes following the TTAADC polls.
The government, however, stated that no political party leader or worker had been evicted from their home because of political violence.
At the same time, police records revealed that the immediate post-result period saw 36 people temporarily leave their residences and take shelter at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Home in Agartala.
According to the Home Department, the individuals stayed there for a few days before returning to their respective homes. The department said that all 36 have since returned and are presently residing peacefully at their residences.
The government’s response provides an official account of the complaints, arrests and temporary displacement reported in the aftermath of the TTAADC election results.
