Agartala 20th July 2026: Tripura’s Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath has appealed to citizens to provide accurate information during the ongoing census process, stressing that the nation’s social and economic planning depends on reliable data.
Speaking on Monday, Nath said the self-enumeration phase is underway throughout July, while the formal census will begin on August 1, when census workers will visit every household to collect details such as the number of rooms, amenities, sanitary latrines, drainage facilities, access to pure drinking water, lifestyle indicators, and the number of residents.
“Our country’s social status depends on this data; therefore, nothing should be suppressed. If false information is given—such as underreporting the number of rooms or residents—it directly affects budget allocation, which relies on accurate population figures. Without this, effective planning is impossible,” Nath emphasized.
Highlighting India’s position as the world’s fourth-largest economy, Nath said transparent reporting is crucial for future growth strategies. He urged households to declare ownership of items like cars, radios, or bicycles without fear of losing benefits, and to clearly state details about drinking water access and lighting sources, whether solar or electric.
“Only by providing this information can our true social standing—whether of Tripura or the nation as a whole—be accurately reflected. I appeal to everyone to cooperate with census workers and provide correct information during both self-enumeration and the formal census. Let us not suppress anything,” Nath concluded.
