Agartala, September 13, 2023: In a bustling anticipation of the upcoming autumn season, Agartala is gearing up for the grand spectacle of ‘Durga Utsav,’ which is set to take place in just a couple of weeks. As the countdown begins, the city is witnessing a steady surge in the number of puja celebrations, creating an unprecedented demand for the immersion of idols at various ghats post the festivities.
To meet this growing demand and ensure a seamless immersion experience for devotees, significant efforts are being invested in the modernization of the Dashmi Ghat immersion ground. This ambitious project is being jointly undertaken by the Agartala Municipal Corporation and Agartala Smart Cities Limited, and they are making impressive progress, with plans to complete the work before the commencement of the Puja.
Moreover, the Municipal Corporation is leaving no stone unturned in enhancing the idol immersion banks along the riverbanks in various suburban areas. Today, a visit to the Dashami Ghat on the Howrah river in the Gajaria area by Mayor Dipak Majumdar, MLA Mina Rani Sarkar of Badharghat, and Corporators Bapi Das and Anjana Das revealed the need for development in this region. Typically, around 30 to 40 idols from the southern part of the city are immersed here every year following the ‘Maha Dashami’ celebrations.
Mayor Dipak Majumdar, during his visit, issued directives to ensure that arrangements are made to facilitate the smooth and hassle-free immersion of idols, ensuring the joyous conclusion of the Durga Puja festival.
As Agartala anticipates the grandeur of Durga Utsav, the city is coming together to ensure that this year’s celebrations are not only memorable but also logistically efficient for all its residents and visitors. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting event.
