Agartala, 27th February 2025:   In a protest against the ongoing water shortage, women from Serampur and Shyamaraicherra ADC Villages blocked the Kamalpur-Khowai road with water jugs this morning. The demonstration took place at the Serampur Naka Point area on National Highway No. 208 and lasted from 8 am to around 11 am.

A significant police presence including officers from Kamalpur Police Station led by OC Sanjay Laskar and TSR personnel quickly responded to the scene. Following discussions between the engineers and staff of the DWS department and Kamalpur Police Station OC Sanjay Laskar, the DWS department assured the protesting women of an imminent water supply.

After receiving this assurance, the tribal women lifted their blockade around 11 am. The prompt action by the authorities helped to swiftly address the grievances of the affected villagers and restore normalcy on the highway.
