Agartala, 11th June 2026: Serious concerns have been raised regarding the completion status of a cricket stadium project in Tripura despite a reported Rs 28 crore arbitration settlement paid from public funds.
According to information highlighted by the Tripura Cricketers Forum, the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) signed an agreement with RKSCPL on April 10, 2017, under Contract No. 01/TCA/AGT/TEC/17-18 for the construction of the stadium.
The Forum alleges that following arbitration proceedings, RKSCPL received a payment of approximately Rs 28 crore. However, despite the substantial settlement, the stadium project remains incomplete. The final handover deadline of July 31, 2025, was reportedly missed, and the facility has yet to be fully completed and operational.
The situation has prompted questions about accountability and oversight in the execution of the project. Critics argue that public money has been spent through the arbitration settlement, yet the intended infrastructure remains unfinished.
Further controversy has emerged over the approval of a Rs 2.77 crore tender for Godrej furniture for the stadium. The Tripura Cricketers Forum claims that the furniture procurement was approved despite the stadium not being completed.
Additionally, allegations have been made that chair purchases were carried out through a restricted tender process that was allegedly manipulated, a matter the Forum says is reflected in TCA’s own meeting records.
The Forum has called for greater transparency and accountability regarding the expenditure of public funds, the status of the stadium project, and the decisions surrounding procurement activities.
As questions continue to mount, stakeholders are seeking clear explanations from the responsible authorities regarding the delays, arbitration settlement, and overall management of the project.
