Agartala, January 10, 2023: Jail minister Ram Prasad Paul on Tuesday said that the present state government is giving special importance to the modernization of prisons and various initiatives have been taken to enable the prison inmates to return to their normal lives after completing their imprisonment and to facilitate their livelihood and for that they were being given advanced training in various vocational activities.
While officially releasing a booklet containing various notable achievements and programs of the Home (Prisons) Department in the last 5 years at Civil Secretariat here, Jail minister Paul also said that the department is working on various plans to improve the quality of life of the prison residents. Computer training has been arranged for them. Also, a new jail building with modern infrastructure has been constructed in Dharmanagar.
He said that the Tripura Correctional Institution Rules, 2021 of the Prisons Department have been introduced during the current state government. HE also said that the process of recruiting people for 249 different posts in the prison department is going on.
IG Prison Aditi Majumdar and Jail department Secretary Tapas Roy was present at the press conference.
