Agartala, January 12, 2023: A short ceremony was held to formally inaugurate the 100-seat residential building for ST students at Women’s College here today.
Tribal Welfare minister Rampada Jamatia opened the door of the residential building for the students in presence of the Secretary of the TW department LT Darlong, CEO of TTAADC CK Jamatia, Additional Director of the Department Anandhari Jamatia, Principal of the College Manideepa Debbarma and others.
During the discussion at the event, Tribal Welfare minister Jamatia said that the government is encouraging quality education for indigenous students. Students from the public sector can also do well if given the opportunity. Therefore, the present government is constructing residential buildings so that there is no difficulty in getting quality education for the students belonging to the tribal sections. The state government is committed to the educational, social and economic and infrastructural development of the people, he added.
Minister further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi through Swacchh Abhiyan has not only given importance to external transparency but has also given special importance to clarity of mind in any work.
It is worthy to mention here that the total cost of setting up this two-storey residential building is Rs 3 crore 33 lakh 47 thousand. The Executive Engineering Branch of West Division of TTAADC was in-charge. Its construction started on March 22, 2021. The work was completed in October, 2022.
