Rampant Robberies Stoke Fear in Sonamura and Boxnagar

Agartala, 9th October 2023:   In a distressing sequence of events, a spate of armed robberies has struck the regions of Sonamura and Boxanagar, leaving residents on edge. The latest incident unfolded on Sunday night in the Khedabari area of Sonamura, where a householder fell victim to a group of pistol-wielding bandits. This follows a similar assault in Manikyanagar’s Ward No. 6 area just a day prior.

Late Sunday night, the residence of Biplab Majumdar in Khedabari bore the brunt of the ruthless assailants. Displaying firearms, the perpetrators subjected the women in the house to a brutal assault before making off with cash and precious gold ornaments. The terrifying ordeal left the family visibly shaken, recounting the traumatic episode where four robbers, their faces obscured, barged into their home wielding guns and sharp weapons.

Biplab Majumdar, the owner of the targeted residence, was absent at the time due to work commitments. The women, still reeling from the shock, reported their inability to identify the assailants due to the masks concealing their identities. Swiftly, they raised the alarm, alerting the Sonamura police station.

Responding promptly, officers from the Sonamura police station, accompanied by TSR forces, arrived at the scene to initiate a thorough investigation. It has been revealed that incidents of this nature have been on the rise in Sonamura and Boxanagar, particularly in the lead-up to the Puja festivities. This unsettling trend has triggered urgent inquiries into the efficacy of border patrolling and internal security measures.

As the investigations continue, residents of both Sonamura and Buxnagar remain on high alert, hoping for swift action to quell the growing apprehension in the community.
