Agartala, 28th November 2023: Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratanlal Nath has dismissed the allegations of work and food shortage in the Autonomous District Council (ADC) area as false and misleading. He said that the people of the state are being deceived by some quarters who are spreading such rumours.
The minister held a press conference at Civil Secretariat here on Tuesday evening, where he presented the data of the mandays worked under the MGNREGA in the 14 ADC villages of Mungiakami block. He said that the average mandays worked in these villages ranged from 77.90 to 114.47, which is higher than the national average of 50. He also said that out of 507 families of Haludia village committee, 309 families are receiving free 5 kg rice per head, 283 families have been accommodated, and 233 houses have been provided with water connection.
The minister also addressed the issue of child trafficking that was reported in some newspapers of the state on November 24, 2023. He said that the Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha had ordered an inquiry into the matter, and the district and sub-divisional administration of Khowai district had acted swiftly to rescue the child from the house of Ranjit Tripura, a resident of Lakshmanpara, Paschim Karbook ADC village of Karbook sub-division. He said that the child and his mother are currently undergoing treatment at the Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital, and their physical condition is satisfactory. He also said that the district administration has taken steps to provide them with all the necessary assistance, such as RR, Ration Card, MGNREGA Card, land lease, and housing under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. He said that the Child Welfare Committee of Khowai district has been instructed to report every two days about the mother and the child.
