Agartala, January 19: The Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath, visited the farmers in Betaga and Muhuripur areas of South Tripura on Friday, and expressed his satisfaction with their agricultural work. He also assured them of the state government’s support to double their income.
Nath, who has been bringing high-quality technology from different parts of the country and abroad, had earlier distributed high-quality potato seeds from Peru to the farmers in Betaga area of Santirbazar subdivision. He inspected the potato fields in Sarojminegi and discussed the benefits of planting these potatoes with the farmers.He was accompanied by Nath MLA Pramod Reang, Agriculture Department Director Saradindu Das, Deputy Director Sumit Kumar Saha, Santirbazar Municipal Council Chairman Sapna Baidya, Vice-Chairman Satyabrata Saha, Bogafa Agriculture Department Supervisor Rajib Sen, Bagafa Panchayat Samiti Chairman Shridam Das and others.
After Betaga, Nath visited Muhuripur area under Jolaibari block, where he witnessed the high-quality paddy cultivation work. He praised the farmers for their hard work and progress, and welcomed the food donors who had contributed to the welfare of the farmers.He was joined by Jolaibari MLA and Minister Shuklacharan Noatia, Jolaibari Agriculture Department Supervisor Shridam Das, Jolaibari Agri-Standing Committee President Bikash Baidya, Jolaibari Block Panchayat Samiti Vice-Chairman Tapas Datta, social worker Ajay Reang and others.Nath promised to improve the agricultural work and development in various aspects of the area, and said that the state government was working towards doubling the income of the farmers. He also informed the media about various programs and development programs of the state government and the central government.
