Tragic loss of Food department’s storekeeper: Sushanta Chowdhury assures support to grieving family

Agartala, January 19: In a heart-wrenching incident last Wednesday, Subhash Mahajan, a dedicated storekeeper of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, lost his life in a tragic accident in the Damdama area of Sabroom. The news sent shockwaves through the community and raised concerns about the safety of those serving on duty.

In a compassionate response to the unfortunate event, Food and Civil Supplies minister Sushanta Chowdhury, took a step beyond official responsibilities. Accompanied by the director of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, Minister Chowdhury visited the residence of the late Subhash Mahajan on Friday evening to pay his respects.

During the visit, Minister Chowdhury met with the grieving family of Subhash Mahajan and conveyed his deepest condolences. Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, the Minister pledged unwavering support during this difficult time. In a gesture of financial assistance, the Minister announced a sum of Rs 3 lakhs to help the family cope with immediate needs.

Furthermore, Minister Chowdhury assured the family that a government job would be provided soon to a member of Subhash’s family under the state government’s die-in-harness scheme. This commitment aims to offer long-term support to the family and ensure financial stability during their period of grief.

The tragic incident serves as a reminder of the risks faced by individuals dedicated to public service. The Minister’s visit and assurance reflect the government’s commitment to standing by the families of those who make the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. The community mourns the loss of Subhash Mahajan, remembering him for his service and dedication to the Food and Civil Supplies department.
