Agartala, 31st December 2024: The residents of Lenin Colony in 79 Tilla, Ward No. 5 of the Agartala Municipal Corporation are grappling with numerous issues, including poor road conditions, inadequate drainage and lack of proper drinking water facilities.
Despite the presence of pipeline water supply, the water is deemed unfit for use by the residents. “The roads have been in a dilapidated state for years,” lamented a local resident. “We have informed our area corporator, Lata Nath, about the drainage and road issues multiple times, but nothing has been done.”
The drainage system, although present, is in dire need of repair, further exacerbating the residents’ woes. They allege that while other areas have seen development projects, Lenin Colony has been neglected. “We are considering various forms of protest, including road blockades, to bring attention to our longstanding demands,” stated another resident. “During elections, we are promised improvements, but those promises are quickly forgotten.”
This sentiment is echoed across different areas of Tripura, where residents report similar grievances. Locals claim that ministers, legislators, and councilors continue to tout their development agenda without delivering tangible results. The public remains vigilant, keeping a close watch on the actions and promises of their representatives.
