Road or Farmland? Frustrated youth take matters into their own hands

Agartala, 10th June 2025:    Residents of Ward No. 3 in Bardowal Gram Panchayat have long struggled with deteriorating infrastructure, including inadequate drinking water, erratic electricity supply and roads that resemble agricultural fields rather than proper pathways. Despite repeated appeals to local representatives’, no action was taken compelling local youth to initiate road repairs themselves on Tuesday morning, continuing into the afternoon.

According to local members, when they approached the ward leader to demand repairs, they were allegedly labeled as opposition supporters and threatened with legal cases. The youth claim they have been unfairly targeted simply for advocating for basic necessities. The poor condition of the road has already resulted in injuries to several residents who navigate the area daily.

Determined to improve the situation, young citizens of the locality pooled resources and manpower to restore the road, hoping to make it safer for everyone. Now, the community eagerly awaits the response from authorities following the media coverage of their plight. Whether the administration will finally step in remains to be seen.
