Agartala, 9th November 2023 : In a devastating incident that occurred on Thursday evening, a young man lost his life in a collision between a scooty and a container lorry on the Assam-Agartala National Highway near Teliamura Town Hall. The victim has been identified as Rustom Debbarma.
According to eyewitnesses, a container lorry with the registration number AS01QC1073 was heading towards Agartala on the national highway when it collided with a scooty bearing the registration TR 06B 9436, near Teliamura Town Hall. Tragically, the scooty came under the rear wheel of the lorry, causing Rustom Debbarma, the scooty’s rider, to fall and meet a fatal end as he was crushed by the lorry’s wheel.
Promptly responding to the distressing accident, personnel from the Teliamura fire department rushed to the scene and efficiently recovered the victim’s body. It was then transported to the Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital. Upon receiving the news, family members of the deceased arrived at the hospital, overcome with grief and sorrow.
Hospital sources have confirmed that Rustom’s body will be handed over to his grieving family following the completion of the post-mortem examination.
In a swift response, the container lorry involved in the accident attempted to flee the scene. However, Teliamura police officers quickly initiated a pursuit and successfully apprehended the vehicle at Hawa Bari Naka. The driver, Inamul Haque, a resident of Assam, and his co-driver Sajeed Abdullah, were promptly taken into custody and transported to the Teliamura police station. Teliamura Police Station Second Officer-in-Charge, Nandan Baidya, stated, “A case will be registered at Teliamura Police Station, and a thorough investigation into the incident will be conducted.”
