Agartala, 10th May 2026: Villagers from Lakhidon Para, Murjurlian Para, Ravan Para, and Lakhidon Debbarma Para under Ampi Nagar block in Gomati district are reeling under severe hardship due to the deplorable condition of their only connecting road. The indigenous residents report that daily movement has become a struggle, particularly during the rainy season, as the dilapidated stretch has turned into a major communication barrier.
According to locals, the three kilometer road linking Tuidu market to the residence of Shipsonlian Kaipeng, MDC of Ampi, is in a “horrible state.” The main route from Lakhidon to Tuidu market is riddled with potholes, collapsed sides, and heaps of mud that make vehicular access impossible after rainfall. Emergency situations such as medical cases, accidents, or night travel during monsoon have become life threatening ordeals.
Students are among the worst affected, as the muddy road during summer makes commuting to school nearly impossible. A senior citizen lamented, “The road has turned into a death trap. With collapsed sides, countless potholes, and mud heaps, it poses critical obstacles for pedestrians and vehicles alike.”
Villagers claim they have repeatedly appealed to the block authorities for maintenance, but no effective action has been taken in the past decade. Each monsoon brings renewed suffering, leaving residents unable to transport patients or pregnant women to hospitals in time.
The Kaipeng inhabitants of the village council have demanded urgent intervention, urging the concerned authorities to inspect the road and take immediate steps to provide relief to the distressed indigenous community.
