Agartala, 5th April 2026: The “Swachhata Senani Samman–2026” ceremony, organised to honour sanitation workers described as the silent heroes of society, was successfully held in Agartala on Saturday.
The programme recognised sanitation workers of Ward No. 33 of the Agartala Municipal Corporation for their dedicated service in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the city. The event was organised by the Medical Astrology Research Fraternity, which said the initiative was aimed at acknowledging the tireless efforts and responsibility shown by sanitation workers in everyday civic life.
Speaking on behalf of the organisers, representatives said sanitation workers play an indispensable role in ensuring a clean and healthy society, and their contribution often remains underappreciated despite being essential to public well-being.
Among those present at the event were social worker Shyamal Deb, Dilip Deb, chairman of the advisory committee of NBRC Club, and Dr. Soma Chowdhury, secretary of the organising body.
The speakers praised the sanitation workers for their crucial role in building a healthy environment and said such recognition programmes send a positive message across society while encouraging greater respect for civic workers.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the organisers expressed gratitude to guests, participants, collaborators and media representatives, while extending congratulations and best wishes to all sanitation workers who were honoured during the programme.
