Agartala, 22nd September 2024:  In a bid to boost self-reliance among women, a grand loan disbursement ceremony was held at Gitanjali Town Hall under the initiative of the Ranirbazar Municipal Council. The event is a part of the Tripura Urban Ajibika Mission where loans were distributed to 73 self-help groups (SHGs).

Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury inaugurated the mega loan program emphasized the pivotal role of SHGs in building a self-reliant India. “The purpose of forming a self-help group is to become self-reliant, and everyone should strive for self-reliance. Members of self-help groups are playing a key role in building a self-reliant India,” he stated.

Chowdhury urged women to break free from traditional family roles and contribute to the nation’s development. “Women should not be bound by restricted family responsibilities. I urge all women to come forward to build a self-reliant India as well as a self-reliant Tripura,” he added.

The ceremony saw the disbursement of loans under various schemes, including the Self Employment Programme and the Pradhan Mantri Street Vendors Atmanirbhar Nidhi Scheme, with a total expenditure of rs 3.27 crore.
