Agartala, December 19, 2022: Youth Affairs and Sports minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Monday said that the eminent Indian singer Sonu Nigam is arriving in Agartala to perform live at the premises of Swami Vivekananda Maidan here on December 23 next.
As part of the ‘Khelo Tripura’, ‘Susto Tripura’, the Youth and Sports Affairs department took an initiative of supplying sports materials among 1500 clubs across the state from December 23 next, said Chowdhury while briefing media persons at Civil Secretariat here on Monday afternoon.
He said “The YAS department organized one-month long ‘Khelo Tripura’ and ‘Susto Tripura’ in different blocks across the state for a period of one month. The aim is to create awareness among youths about their physical and mental development and also draw attraction for sports so that they are kept away from drugs as well.”
“Accordingly, the department initiated plan to distribute sports materials among symbolic number of clubs from December 23 onwards from the musical concert at Swami Vivekananda Maidan here. The materials include- cricket balls, bats, footballs, volley balls, badmintons etc.”, he added.
Chowdhury also said “In this concert, for the first time probably drone show will be organized by IITians from Delhi. We hope that the programme will be successful and ask all to participate in this programme. As the capacity of the ground is limited, VIP pass would be issued shortly.”
He further added that a mass rally will start from Umakanta Academy’s ground at 3 PM and end at Astabal ground where players, NSS staff, etc will participate. Local artists will also perform in cultural event on that very day.
