Agartala, 12th January 2025: To honor the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the South Tripura Youth Forum (STYF) organized a mega health camp and winter clothing distribution drive in Batisha Gram Panchayat, a remote area under the Rajnagar RD Block of South Tripura District. This initiative was a tribute to Vivekananda’s ideals of service and compassion.
STYF, a social organization comprising members of all age groups from South Tripura, has been actively engaged in community welfare activities. During the devastating floods of 2024, the Forum played a crucial role in relief efforts, particularly in the hard-hit South District.
Batisha, nestled in the Western Hills, is home to families grappling with poverty and the challenges of daily survival. Many residents, especially children, lack access to basic necessities such as warm clothing, footwear, and adequate nourishment. Recognizing these needs, the Forum distributed 45 new blankets, 35 pairs of sandals, 15 towels, and additional winter clothing for children and the elderly.
The event also included a comprehensive health camp led by a skilled medical team. Health workers, pharmacists, nurses, and lab technicians provided free services, including blood sugar tests, hemoglobin checks, and blood pressure monitoring. Medicines tailored to patients’ needs were distributed free of charge, with support from pharmaceutical partners in Agartala.
This was STYF’s first mega health camp of 2025, following three similar camps conducted during the floods of 2024. It also marked their eighth winter clothing distribution initiative. The Forum expressed immense satisfaction in bringing relief to the residents of Batisha and reaffirmed their commitment to continuing such efforts across South Tripura. “The true essence of social service is to stand by those in need,” an STYF representative said. “Today, we hope to have brought a little warmth and care to the lives of Batisha’s residents, inspired by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. We pledge to expand our outreach to more areas in the future.”
STYF extended heartfelt gratitude to its members and collaborators for their unwavering support, ensuring the success of this initiative.
