Agartala, 20th February 2024 :   A wave of burglaries struck the quiet neighborhood of Dhaleshwar, leaving residents shocked and concerned about the rising crime rate. On Tuesday morning, a group of thieves targeted two houses along Dhaleshwar Road No. 18, leaving victims in their wake.

One of the victims, the widow and son of the late Ajit Chakraborty, residing on rent in the area, fell prey to the audacious thieves. The incident unfolded when the elderly woman left her residence to secure a doctor’s appointment number. Upon returning, she was horrified to find the door ajar and the interior ransacked.

The thieves made away with Rs 5,000 and precious gold ornaments that were earmarked for the medical consultation. In a disheartening twist, another house in the vicinity also fell victim to the criminals, intensifying concerns among the local residents.

The lack of regular police patrolling in the area has exacerbated the situation, contributing to a surge in theft cases. The victims promptly reported the incident to the police, who arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation.

The widow of Ajit Chakraborty expressed her shock and anguish over the incident, emphasizing the need for heightened security measures in the neighborhood. The community is now grappling with the aftermath of the daylight heist, urging local authorities to take swift action to ensure the safety of residents.
