Agartala, 28th August 2025: Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Biswa Bandhu Sen, 72, is reported to be stable on room air while undergoing treatment at Aster CMI Hospital, Bangalore, under the care of Dr. Ravi Gopal Varma, Director of the Global Centre for Excellence in Neurosciences and Lead Consultant Neurosurgeon.
Earlier, Sen had undergone a decompressive craniotomy in Tripura following a left thalamocapsular bleed with intraventricular extension. On his arrival at Aster CMI, he was placed on ventilator support with stable vital signs. A subsequent CT scan revealed hydrocephalus and raised intracranial pressure, leading to an emergency right frontal external ventricular drain (EVD) placement and a tracheostomy.
He has since been weaned off ventilator support and is breathing independently. The EVD was replaced on the eighth post-procedure day as a precaution against infection. According to hospital authorities, his neurological condition remains stable, with intracranial pressure reduced and the left frontotemporal flap lax. Sen continues to be under close medical supervision and is stable on room air.
