Agartala, 8th October 2023: Special Lok Adalats held across all district and sub-divisional court premises in the state today have made significant progress in resolving pending cases.

The initiative, which commenced on October 3 last year, has witnessed a positive response from the public, with a substantial number of cases being settled amicably.

Sabyasachi Datta Purkayastha, Member Secretary of Tripura Legal Service Authority, announced that a total of 22,889 cases were brought forward for settlement in these special Lok Adalat. Among them, 11,645 cases fell under the Motor Vehicle Act, while 83 cases were related to cheque bounce, 34 cases were related to marital disputes, and 315 cases were categorized under solvable criminal clauses.

These Lok Adalats, operating across 15 different locations with a total of 33 benches, have proven to be an effective means of providing swift justice to citizens. However, Dhalai district has faced challenges due to heavy rainfall, causing some hindrance to the proceedings.

Despite this setback, the Lok Adalats continue to play a crucial role in reducing the backlog of cases and offering timely resolutions to legal disputes. The state remains committed to the cause of providing accessible and efficient justice to its citizens.
