Agartala, 12th July 2025: A Special Lok Adalat was convened today under the aegis of the West Tripura District Legal Services Authority, aiming to expedite resolution of pending cases through alternative dispute mechanisms.
The proceedings were held within the premises of the District and Sessions Court in West Tripura, where four dedicated benches were set up for the day.
Speaking on the initiative, Amarjit Dey, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, stated that the court focused primarily on cases related to road accidents, offences under the Tripura Police Act, Tripura Gambling Act, and Excise-related matters. Notices had been issued beforehand to the concerned parties whose cases were scheduled for settlement.
According to Dey, a total of 3,922 cases were taken up for resolution. By 3 PM, over 700 cases had already been successfully settled, marking a significant stride in reducing backlog and promoting timely justice.
