Spike in COVID-19, fresh four cases in state

Agartala, 13th January 2024 :   In the last 48 hours, Tripura has witnessed a surge in COVID-19 cases, with four new infections reported, bringing the total number of active patients to 16, according to the latest health department bulletin.

Out of a total of 558 samples tested, 171 were examined through RT-PCR, identifying four individuals with coronavirus infections. This has led to an increase in the daily infection rate to 0.71 percent, prompting concerns among health authorities. The total number of COVID-19 cases in Tripura now stands at 108,496, with 107,487 individuals having successfully recovered, reflecting an impressive recovery rate of 99.07 percent. Unfortunately, the death toll has reached 940, resulting in a mortality rate of 0.87 percent.

 The health department’s bulletin revealed that one person each in West Tripura and Unakoti districts tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 48 hours. However, no new cases were reported in the remaining six districts. The current situation underscores the importance of continued vigilance and adherence to safety protocols as Tripura strives to curb the spread of the virus. Authorities are urging residents to follow guidelines, practice social distancing, and get vaccinated to protect themselves and others from further infections.
